
Two people were seriously injured in an accident on Interstate 80 in Washington Township of Jefferson County.
On Friday around 6 pm, 25 year old Cassandra Smith and her passenger 28 year old Sarah Lowers, both of Clarion were traveling west on I 80 near the Reynoldsville exit when she attempted to pass a tractor trailer; however, police say she abruptly hit the breaks and attempted to go back in the right lane.
According to authorities, Smith hit a wheel on the fright-liner, exited the roadway, continued west through the median and overturned over a small tree before colliding into an embankment.
Smith and her passenger were extricated from her car and transported to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of life threatening injuries.
The 25 year old truck driver, Hunter Hill of Willoughby, Ohio, and his passenger were not injured.
