With Groundhog Day closing in this Super Bowl Sunday, PETA issued a press release saying they want Phil to be replaced.
According to KDKA, PETA is recommending Punxsutawney Phil retire from weather prognostication and live out his life in a sanctuary without the magic potion of the elixir of life; while his proposed replacement, an artificially intelligent animatronic groundhog take his job.
The published reports says a letter was sent to the Groundhog Club, who will be issuing a statement on PETA’s letter.
