According to WJAC-TV, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has stated that 18-year-old Alexander Smith and the 17-year-old juvenile have been charged with two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty and two felony counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated animal cruelty, as well as several other misdemeanor and summary counts.
Smith was arraigned Friday and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
The game commission says the other teen’s charges have been filed and will be sent to juvenile court.
The story was originally reported in December of last year. A video showing two young males kicking and abusing the animal after shooting it became viral on the Internet.
Brookville police confirmed the two teens in the video are from Brookville but said the incident occurred outside their jurisdiction.
Brookville Police Chief Vince Markle identified one of the teens in the video as his 18-year-old stepson; however, authorities say no favoritism will be shown in the case.
An online petition calling for criminal charges against the teens has more than 700,000 signatures.
