A Marion Center man was killed in a crash last night on Route 119 in North Mahoning Township.
State police from the Punxsutawney barracks say that 69-year-old William Burkett of Marion Center died in a near-head-on collision that happened at 7:14 last night. He was driving a 2003 Nissan X-Terra and had crossed the center line just north of Juneau Road, colliding with a Dodge Pickup truck driven by 30-year-old Natasha Ulichnie of Creekside. When state police arrived, Rossiter and Perry Township fire crews along with Punxsy EMS were on the scene. Burkett was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. pronounced Burkett dead at the scene. The death was ruled accidental due to multiple blunt force trauma suffered in the crash. Overman also said that Burkett was not wearing his seatbelt.
Ulichnie was also injured in the crash and was taken to UPMC Altoona by Stat Medivac Helicopter for treatment.
