There was a two-vehicle accident in Eldred Township of Jefferson County that happened last week, sending one person by flight to a Pittsburgh Hospital and another by ambulance to a local hospital.
The crash occurred on Route 36 at its intersection with Route 949 on Friday around 2:30 pm, when, according to authorities, 20 year old Erica Romo of Corsica failed to obey a traffic control devise and entered the intersection improperly, causing a vehicle driven by 42 year old Rusty Fitzgerald of Vowinckel to hit the driver’s side of Romo’s car. Both vehicles came to a rest
on Route 36.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, but after being extricated with mechanical means from her car, Romo was flown to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of serious injures. Her passenger 21 year old Michael Rodgers of Pittsburgh was not injured; however the Fitzgerald has to transported by Sigel EMS to Penn Highlands Brookville for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
Romo was charged with a traffic violation.
