A man from Clarion was arrested and arraigned for an incident that happened this past Saturday in Clarion Township.
The incident started around one in the morning on Greenville Drive and Hickory Pike Drive when Troopers initiated a traffic stop on a pickup truck driven by 24 year old Thomas Smith, who had a passenger with him, a 23 year old woman whose name was not in the report, both from Clarion.
Police say Smith failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, then began to drive at a high rate of speed through nearby fields and heavily wooded terrain. After the truck jumped over several downed logs, it came to a rest in the mud.
Smith was taken into custody for driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and numerous traffic violations, and he was arraigned at the magisterial district judge with bail set at $10,000 unsecured.
