According to The Punxsutawney Spirit, the accident occurred in Big Run Borough south of Smyers Street, when a flatbed trailer broke and its 13,000 pound cargo fell off to the east side of the shoulder. The published report cites the PSP in Punxsutawney who said the driver was 31 year old Shakira Kersey of Mathews North Carolina and her passenger Avery Scott of Charlotte North Carolina were not injured; however Kersey was cited for unlawful activities.
