An investigation that began last October has led to the arrest of a 56-year-old Clymer man, who is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl.
David Oswalt, 56, is accused of 92 criminal offenses, including 10 felony offenses each, on charges of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a victim less than 16 years of age, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and corruption of minors. There are also 20 felony offenses we will not name due to their sensitive nature.
On October 30th, Indiana County Children & Youth Services notified Indiana Borough Police of alarming text messages received by the girl, who was placed into the protective care of CYS to avoid further contact with Oswalt. Indiana Borough Police worked with CYS, the District Attorney’s office, investigators from the Department of Homeland Security and agents from the FBI. Through interviews and search warrants they found evidence of multiple sexual assaults, both within the borough and at least one other location within the county.
Oswalt was taken into custody yesterday afternoon and arraigned before the District Judge, who set bond at $100,000 and ordered him held at the Indiana County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 1st.
