As we get into the heart of the Independence Day driving period, gas prices are increasing as more motorists are expected to hit the road. A contributing factor may be the fire at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions South Philadelphia refinery forcing the refinery’s closure. Prices across western Pennsylvania are at $2.91 a gallon. In the area the most expensive gasoline is in Jefferson County at $2.99 a gallon. Clearfield County is about the lowest averaging 2.93 per gallon. Indiana’s gas prices have also seen an upward trend as well, with prices across the county averaging at $2.96 a gallon. The Average gas price across the United States is at $2.73 a gallon.
