To raise taxes or not to raise taxes was up for a vote at last nights Punxsutawney School Board Meeting; however after not getting the five votes needed to pass either, the motion was tabled until June 25.
Seven of the nine school board members were present at the voting meeting and after approving the cafeteria budget, and other items on the agenda, it was time to vote on the 2019-2020 General Fund Budget. Five votes are needed to carry the motion and the first proposed budget had a majority of 4 to 3 not to increase real estate taxes on Jefferson and Indiana County residences, and the other, which projected a slight increase in taxes, also had a 4 to 3 vote.
After the meeting I asked Superintendent Dr. Lesniewski to summarize.
Next meeting Tuesday evening June 25 at 6 with the June 30 deadline.
