A Warren County man is in the Indiana County Jail after he allegedly burglarized a home in Cherryhill Township and attempted to rob Pike’s Peak Nursery at gunpoint.
State police say 37-year-old Justin Ludwig of Warren walked into Pikes Peak along Route 422 at around five o’clock Wednesday afternoon and allegedly pointed a handgun at two employees, ordering them to open a safe. A male worker refused and rushed Ludwig, tackled him, forced him outside of the building and disarmed him.
The female employee called 911, and when the police arrived three minutes later, they ordered Ludwig to surrender and he did. Ludwig had a .40-cal Beretta registered to a nearby resident of North Harmony Road. State troopers went to the location and the homeowner reported the gun was missing, along with other items that were recovered inside a pillowcase Ludwig had in his possession.
Ludwig was charged Wednesday with five felony counts of theft and a single felony count of burglary. Ludwig sits in the Indiana County Jail, with bond set at $50K. Yesterday, charges of robbery, criminal attempted theft, and terroristic threats were added.
