Lightening has been determined to be the cause of a garage fire.
The First Lieutenant of the Rimersburg Fire Department requested the assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal in determining the cause of a fire that destroyed a garage and its contents, valued around $150,000, plus damaging part of a home on Bodenhorn Road in Monroe Township on April 23 just before midnight.
After further investigation it was determined lightening had struck a nearby tree and traveled through underground natural gas and electric lines, causing it to originate near a gas heater in the garage.
The owners 51 year old Joseph McNamara and 50 year old Elizabeth McNamara, both of Sligo, were not injured.
