The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has issued a “Fire Weather Watch” for dozens of Pennsylvania counties.
A map issued yesterday by DCNR places Jefferson and Indiana County in the “moderate risk” category for wildfires, along with 29 other counties; however, Clearfield eleven other counties are listed at “high risk” for wildfires.
DCNR says 85 percent of wildfires happen in the spring, and with wind gusts of thirty miles per hour and more forecast across the commonwealth today, the risk is elevated.
