
Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman has announced the date of the special election for Don White’s seat in the State Senate.
The date of the special election will be the day of Pennsylvania’s primary election, May 21st. The special election is needed as Sen. White resigned his position mid-term. Whomever is elected will serve until just after the 2020 election.
As of today, Indiana County restaurateur Tony DiLoreto announced that he would seek the Democratic nomination to the special election, while White’s former Chief of Staff Joe Pittman announced that he would seek the Republican nomination. George Karpacs of Center Township has also announced his intent to run for the Republican nomination.
White announced his resignation on January 29th on the floor of the Senate. His last day in office was February 28th.
