An icy patch on Interstate 80 contributed to a crash that happened last week. State Police in Clarion say 61-year old Edwin Burkett from Coolspring was driving in the left lane on I-80 West near mile marker 48 last Wednesday around 11:30 when he hit an icy patch and crossed into the right lane hitting a guide rail.
According to authorities, after the impact, his truck crossed both lanes and into the median where he hit a tree and rolled into a ditch.
Burkett was taken to Grove City Hospital for suspected serious injuries and was cited for driving too fast for the conditions of the road.
