Morning Show
Josh Widdowson
Morning Show Host

Josh Widdowson was born and raised in Indiana, PA and grew up listening to AM 1450 WDAD in the mornings, thinking that being a news person or a morning show host would be a great job to have.  Josh would get his first taste of Broadcasting working for WDAD as a part-time in-studio producer for live by sattelite events like Steelers games and Nascar Races.  Josh was also given an assignment to be a beat reporter for WDAD and their affiliate WQMU.  In 2000, Josh graduated from Indiana High School, and decided to go to Point Park University in Pittsburgh.

During his time at college, Josh was a DJ at the college radio station, WPPJ-AM 670, and was a part of three Sports-Talk franchises, "WPPJ Sports Talk", "Sports Talk After Dark", and Josh's own Sports-news and Music program "Stadium News".  Josh was also an in-studio producer for WPPJ's coverage of Point Park Basketball.  Josh was also the Public Address Voice for the Pioneers for one season in Basketball and for a few special occasions in baseball.  For two seasons, Josh was also heard on WDAD and WQMU as the sideline reporter for the Indiana High Little Indians.

When Josh Graduated Point Park University in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting, Josh returned to AM 1450 WDAD, now a part of the Renda Radio family, and was soon a beat reporter and in-studio producer.  In 2005, Josh was called on by Renda Radio of Punxsutawney to be their new Saturday Morning News Anchor and DJ, and after a year, was offered the job as News Director.

In the fall of 2010, Josh was named the new Morning Show host for WPXZ's morning show, and can be heard from 6-10 AM Monday-Saturday on 104.1 FM WPXZ.  Josh is also the anchor for the Noon and Afternoon Newscasts on 104.1 FM WPXZ, and their two affiliates, KOOL 103.3 FM and News-Talk AM 1540 WECZ.  Josh can also be heard Sundays at 7:30 on WPXZ and 8:30 on WECZ as the host of Hometown Community Spotlight.

Away from the Mic, Josh watches classic movies, cooking, and listens to Old-Time Radio programs.  Josh also enjoys live theater, as he has taken part in plays with various community theater groups.

And yes, Josh still thinks hosting the Morning Show and Being a News Anchor are great jobs.

"I Can't Deny The Fact That You Like Me, Right Now, You Like Me!" --Sally Field accepting the 1984 Best Actress Oscar for "Places in the Heart"

The Academy Awards are less than a week away now, and I am going to give it another go by making predictions on who I think will win in the five major categories and one extra one. I like to think I am an animation expert, so I include best animated feature in my annual picks, and drop "Best Director" from my picks.

Away we go then!

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE
-A Cat In Paris
-Chico and Rita
-Kung-fu Panda 2
-Puss in Boots
-Rango

I never hold much hope out for sequels or spinoffs when it comes to the Academy. It's "Ok, we've smelled this fish before". So that's why I am going with Rango. It was very popular, a well put together ...

Does "Star Wars" belong in a 3-D Movie World?

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi.  At last we will have our revenge"  --Darth Maul  "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace"

I am eagerly awaiting this weekend so that I can go see Star Wars Episode 1 in 3-D.  I have always relished watching movies in a proper movie theater on the big screen rather than waiting for them to come out on TV or on Home Video.  While the movies are still the same (And watching the movies at home is considerably cheaper), there's something about going to see a movie on the big silver screen in a darkened theater surrounded by your friends.  That's what I did when the original Star Wars trilogy (With Mark Hammil and Carrie Fisher) were re-released as Special Editions in the late 1990s, and I continued that tradition when the Prequel Trilogy (With Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman) were ...
