With spring here, some of you might be considering some good old fashioned spring cleaning on your social networking sites.
If you're at a loss for which friends to ditch, sticking with these guidelines might help you decide:
-If you only hear about them through invites to Farmville and Mafia Wars, say goodbye.-If they update their post every time they inhale, let them go.-If every post is a negative look at life, say goodbye.-If they constantly name-drop ... see ya later.-If they are conspiracy theorists who can't stop sharing their crazy ideas ... drop 'em.

Sounds pretty good to me, but what do you think? I'd love to see what you thought on this issue? Are these good guidelines to follow? Do you have some rules of your own concerning this? Post your replies below, ...

In Memoriam: Dick Clark 1929-2012

As we have heard this morning, TV and Music Legend Dick Clark passed away yesterday.
Clark first gained national prominence in 1956 when he took the reins of a popular Teenage show on WFIL-TV called "Bandstand", which he would help take to ABC TV coast-to-Coast. He was able to be the matured and calm voice of the Rock and Roll generation and the music it put out, and made stars out of Fabian, Andy Williams in the early days, The Jacksons in the 70s, and a lot of artists that you hear on our station today. Of course, Clark could connect very well with the Teenage Audience that he was trying to reach with American Bandstand, as he frequently discussed the latest trends, dances and music with them. One of his most famous segments allowed two of the dancers on the show to "Rate-A-Record", and while they never actually said ...

"Bully" movie...and a personal reflection

From Your Hometown Morning show on 4-4-12 at 6:50:
"A documentary called Bully opened over the weekend and it's already creating quite a stir.
The film follows five families to show the negative (and often tragic) effects of a child being bullied.
Bully is a no-holds-barred look at how cruel kids can be to other kids. This movie exposes the problem, while shining a light on school officials, who often do little to stop it.
After watching the documentary, many adults said they were taken back to a time in their own lives where they were tormented by someone. And no matter how old you get or how much success you have, that pain can stay with you ... even years later."
This is a tough topic to talk about for me. I am glad that a film like this is exposing what kids may be going through on a regular basis ...

SOUND OFF!: The Hunger Games

What do Harry Potter, Bella, and Katniss have in common.
Well they are the main characters of three highly successful book franchises....
And if the pattern holds true, they will also be the main characters in three highly successful movie franchises.
Of course, Harry Potter has had 8 movies made, all based on the books by JK Rowling. The Twilight series has brought in a lot of money and people are hanging on what "Breaking Dawn" Part two will bring. Plus people across the nation lined up for midnight screenings of the latest teen novel-turned-film, "The Hunger Games". Do you expect "Hunger Games" to break some box office records? A lot of high expectations with this film, and I hope it does well, as I've heard nothing but good things about the books. Another question: Are the books better than the movies or is it the other way ...

SOUNDOFF: Should Public Humiliation be used as a punishment for kids?

On the Hometown Morning Show, we've found a couple of stories of parents using Public Humiliation as a punishment for their chirldren. The First story involved a South Florida teen being forced by his parents to stand at a busy intersection wearing a sign. Here's what the sign read:
Front: "Hey! I want to be a class clown. Is it wrong?"
Back: "I'm in the seventh grade and got three F's. Blow your horn if there's something wrong with that."
This came after the boy got three F's on a report card, and he must spend every day of his spring break on a busy intersection showing that sign to the world.
The second story comes from New Orleans where a mom caught her daughter shoplifting at a clothing store. As punishment, until further notice, she must wear a neon-green T-shirt with the following stenciled on the front:

The Academy Awards are less than a week away now, and I am going to give it another go by making predictions on who I think will win in the five major categories and one extra one. I like to think I am an animation expert, so I include best animated feature in my annual picks, and drop "Best Director" from my picks.
Away we go then!
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE-A Cat In Paris-Chico and Rita-Kung-fu Panda 2-Puss in Boots-Rango
I never hold much hope out for sequels or spinoffs when it comes to the Academy. It's "Ok, we've smelled this fish before". So that's why I am going with Rango. It was very popular, a well put together ...

Does "Star Wars" belong in a 3-D Movie World?

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have our revenge" --Darth Maul "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace"

I am eagerly awaiting this weekend so that I can go see Star Wars Episode 1 in 3-D. I have always relished watching movies in a proper movie theater on the big screen rather than waiting for them to come out on TV or on Home Video. While the movies are still the same (And watching the movies at home is considerably cheaper), there's something about going to see a movie on the big silver screen in a darkened theater surrounded by your friends. That's what I did when the original Star Wars trilogy (With Mark Hammil and Carrie Fisher) were re-released as Special Editions in the late 1990s, and I continued that tradition when the Prequel Trilogy (With Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman) were ...

We've made it through football season....now what?

“That ball is right there. For me, it comes down to if the Pens are playing or not, hockey fan that I am. But most Sundays, It's boiled down to watching movies or catching up on sleep! And quite frankly, I am getting a little bored. Do ...

I think we're due for some snow

"HEAR YE HEAR YE! On Gobbler's Knob This Magnificent Morning, February 2nd, 2012, Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, the prognosticator of all prognosticators was summoned from his burrow in the old oak stump by the tap of President Bill Deeley. He greeted his handlers, Jon Griffiths and Ron Ploucha. And after casting an appreciative glance towards thousands of faithful followers, Phil proclaimed: As I look at the crowd on Gobbler's Knob, Many Shadows Do I see! SO SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER IT MUST BE!" --Mike Johnston, outgoing VP of the Groundhog Club Inner Circle.

That's how much we raised last week for Make-A-Wish week. That's incredible to say the least. Once again, the Punxsy Community shows how generous it is through their many donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As this was my first year out for the morning broadcasts, I feel a need to thank Ragley's True Value, Fox's Pizza Den, Caterena's, The Punxsy Middle and High Schools, and Fezell's County Market in helping out our morning broadcasts, as well as the Pantall Hotel and Mulberry Square for our afternoon broadcasts.
Looking back on it, I remember the faces of the wish kids that I saw for the week. Especially "Little" Josh Golembiowski. The young man has been through a lot in his life with his heart surgeries, and down syndrome on top of that, yet he and his family were so grateful for their wish they contribute and help out ...
